December and January Ipsy Bag

Advertisements

Okay, I know what you’re thinking. It’s March and I’m just now posting about my December and January Ipsy bags? The answer is: I sure am! Obviously these would be more timely if posted during their respective months but, hey, life happens.

In a few weeks I’ll be posting a “Year of Ipsy bags.” I’ll be sharing all the pros and cons of the service, what products I couldn’t get enough of and what products missed the mark. I wanted to have a full year of Ipsy bag posts on my blog so I’m finishing out the year with this one.

First up is my December Ipsy Bag. It’s a simple silver bag with a sparkle rim. Definitely a holiday bag.

SMASHBOX COSMETICS
Be Legendary Lipstick in Legendary
Smashbox is known for their great lip products, and I was so excited to receive this lipstick in my December bag. It’s the prettiest shade of red that was perfect for the holidays. The tub is a super small sample, but it’s too cute.

DIRTY LITTLE SECRET COSMETICS
Eyeshadow Crayon in Fetch
I’ve never been a big user of eyeshadow sticks. I know a lot of people love them for usability. I got this one by Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics and fell in love. This rose-gold shade is perfect for a light makeup day. I have worn this so many times and continue to use it today. It adds a perfect pop of color to your eyes but it looks simple. The formula is smooth and it wears pretty long throughout the day too.

Here’s the swatches from the lipstick and eyeshadow:

SERAPHINE BOTANICALS
Lip Polish in Orange + Cream
First of all, this lip polish smells AMAZING. It smells like an Orange Creamsicle. When I used it I seriously have to remind myself not to eat it because it smells so yummy! In addition to smelling great, this polish works so well in these dry winter months. When my lips are feeling extra chapped I use this polish and my lips come back to life.

LUXIE BEAUTY
Precision Shader Onyx Brush 239
If you’ve followed my Ipsy bag posts in the last year you know I love getting Luxie Brushes; I have three now and I love them all. I keep telling myself that I should buy a set, but I guess if I wait long enough I may get a full set through Ipsy! I love getting brushes through Ipsy so you’ll never see me complain about them.

FEEL
Brilliant Bamboo Charcoal Facial Sheet Mask
This is the one product I haven’t been able to use yet. However, I love sheet masks so I know I will love them. This week is a crazy busy week for me so I’m hoping to destress and cleanse with one this week.

Overall, I was so happy with my December bag. It had a great mix of products and I literally loved them all. I used them a lot and are still using most of them.

Onto my January bag. The January’s bag was a weird bungee sporty material. It was all about the new year and goals.

CIATÉ LONDON
Fierce Flicks Liquid Eyeliner
This eyeliner pen is so smooth and black. I’ve used it a lot since I received it in January. The only complaint I have about this eyeliner is the staying power. If I rub my eyes at the end of the day then it will always smudge. So for short term wear I like this eyeliner but it doesn’t have the staying power I want.

SO SUSAN
Liquid Matte in Pumpkin
Wow. This liquid lipstick is so powerful. The first thing I like about it is that it smells like fruit loops. The color payoff is great and it is easy to apply. However, when applying make sure you are careful because this lippie stays on forever. Even when I swatched it on my hand it stayed for 24 hours after man many washes. This product is great.

THEBALM COSMETICS
Mary-Lou Manizer
Another Ipsy bag, another small sample from theBalm. I guess I can’t complain because I do really like this highlighter. It adds the perfect amount of highlight to my face. This highlighter is actually one of the more known products from theBalm so I was excited to try it out.

Here are the lipstick, eyeliner and highlighter swatched out:

GLOBAL BEAUTY CARE
Charcoal Wash Off Mask
I haven’t had a chance to use this mask yet so, I have three charcoal masks that I need to use. Can you tell I’ve been busy? Regardless, I am excited to try this mask out and I love that it is resealable.

BRIOGEO HAIR CARE
Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo
I also have yet to use this product either. It’s sat on my sink waiting to be used but I always forget to take it into the shower. I hope to use it soon but I know Briogeo is a great hair care brand so I am excited to give it a try.

WOW! One year of Ipsy bags. I can’t believe I’ve gotten 12 bags and reviewed them all. Be on the lookout for a post about if Ipsy is worth it or not. It will be on the blog in the coming weeks.
Next week I’ll be traveling for Spring Break. I’ll be going to South by Southwest (SXSW) which is a creatives conference in Austin, Texas. It’s all about what is the next “big thing” and I am so excited to attend with the College of Information and Communications. Look out for a trip post next week.
