What’s in my Ipsy bag? (Feb. 2017)

beautyHey everyone!

While I was revamping my blog to include beauty, I started to make a lists of beauty-centered posts I wanted to write. I found myself with a good list but felt like I need something extra; something regular.

I love YouTube beauty videos and one popular trend is “Battle of the Boxes” videos. The boxes are beauty subscription services. You might’ve heard about Birchbox, Glossybox, even Sephora has its own subscription service.

I signed up for a subscription called Ipsy! The service is $10 a month, and I receive a personalized Glam Bag for me each month with sample and full size products.

I signed up for a year of Ipsy bags, so my hope is each month I will have my glam bag on the blog.

This month was my first month receiving one and I’m so excited to be sharing it with you so let’s dive in!

Here’s the spread:

As you see, there is a bag! Each month you get a different themed bag too. I’m a sucker for cute bags, which is one reason why I decided to go with Ipsy.

Another key component of Ipsy is the bright pink shipping bags they use. When mine arrived at my house, my mom called me and told me I had a “beautiful pink bag” at home :).

Enough about the packaging; let’s get to the products! With each product I’ll include a short review since I’ve already been testing everything out.

1. NYX Professional Makeup Butter™ Lipstick in Ripe Berry

Y’all, this lipstick is beautiful. What I love most about it is the butter formula. When I was wearing it, it didn’t even feel like I had lipstick on. It was very moisturizing and not sticky on the lips. I love the brand NYX already, so I’m definitely going to check out their other colors in this line.

2. LAW Beauty Essentials Nail Polish in Smoking Mauve

I’ve never heard of Law Beauty Essentials before trying this polish, but I actually really like it. A bonus is that it is vegan and toxin free! This polish has a easy-to-apply formula and wide brush. I found two coats on each nail does the trick. The color on the nails is a dusty mauve and does seem to look different in different lights. I know I’ll be reaching for this color all during the spring.

3. IBY Beauty Highlighter in Bubbly

I’m not a huge highlighter when doing my makeup but I’ve found myself really enjoying this one. It gives enough color and highlight to my cheekbones. It’s not overpowering either. As a “beginner” highlighter like me, this is just what I need! So far I like this product.

4. SOO AE Sheet Mask Duo – Purifying Black Charcoal Mask & Nature Green Tea Collagen Essence Maskimg_5359

I’ve never used a sheet mask before. I was still on the traditional apply-it-yourself train. However, these are awesome! I used the Purifying Black Charcoal Mask one night, and it was amazing. You apply the mask, wait about 20 minutes, then take the mask off and pat in the excess moisture. My face felt so soft and moisturized after the mask and even into the next day. I haven’t used the Green Tea Mask but I’m going to take it with me on an upcoming trip.

5. Lord & Berry LINE/SHADE Eye Pencil – #221 Black

Out of everything, I did have one disappointing product. This pencil eyeliner is by Lord & Berry. I’m not a fan of pencil eyeliner, so that’s really why I didn’t like it. The eyeliner was smooth and stayed pretty well. They promote this liner as easy to smudge out to achieve a smoky eye look but I don’t do many of those. I’m still going to play around with the pencil. Maybe I can throw this in my purse for when I need to touch-up my own eyeliner!

Those are my 5 products in my February 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag! I’m so happy with my first bag and can’t wait for my next one to come.

If you want to sign up for your own Ipsy bag click here! (This is a link from my Ipsy bag, I don’t get any compensation if you sign up, just recognition that you are signing up from me!)

That’s all for now.
