One year of IPSY bags. Is it worth it?

beauty

0Q4A1552I blogged one year of my Ipsy Subscription bags! So now I’m answering the question I get asked all the time: Is it worth it? I’ll tell you about my experience and let you decide for yourself.

Outlined below are my favorite products I received in my different bags. I did like at least one thing in most of the bags. Some of the products I loved and you’ll see which ones. I’ve also linked each respective blog post so you can see everything I did get in each month’s bag. At the end of the blog, I’ve calculated what the full-size products would cost if you bought them at a store.

FEBRUARY

NYX Professional Makeup Butter™ Lipstick in Ripe Berry ($6)
I loved this product so much I went out and bought another color. The perfect light lip product that moisturizes and gives great color.

MARCH

The bag
I really just loved the bag from this month. I use it every day in my purse.

APRIL

THEORIE – Marula Oil Transforming Hair Serum
I really loved this hair oil. It smelled great and made my hair so soft.
Glamour Dolls x Lisa Frank Angle Blush Brush (6.99)
You’ll find every brush I got in my Ipsy bags in my favorites because I really loved getting new brushes. This one was so cute, too.

MAY

Luxie Beauty – Luxie Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush 660 ($23)
Another brush, another happy Michaela.
Urban Decay – Afterglow in Sin – Powder Highlighter
I love Urban Decay and this was the perfect highlighter. I used it all summer and I really didn’t make a dent. It wasn’t a huge sample but a great size. I reach for it often.

JUNE

Skone Cosmetics Insanely Intense Tattooed Waterproof Eyeliner ($15)
I used this eyeliner for months—until it was dried to the bone. This eyeliner was deep in pigment and stayed put all day. I was really sad when it ran out. I need to figure out where I can repurchase it!

JULY

IBY Beauty Crease Brush ($8)
This brush is so precise. I love it for really defining my crease color for my eyeshadow.
Hanalei Lip Treatment in Rose ($6)
I use this product weekly. It has lasted a long time even though it’s a pretty small tube. My sister also loves this lip treatment. Every time she is over she uses some. I am definitely repurchasing this when I run out.
tarte Amazonian clay waterproof bronzer
I am a big tarte fan, and I love any product that I get from them. This bronzer is the perfect color too. I find myself reaching for it daily.

AUGUST

Hikari Cosmetics Shimmer Bronzer in Flush ($17)
I usually reach for this bronzer and use it as a blush. When all the colors are mixed together, it gives off the perfect amount of color for cheeks.

SEPTEMBER

Luxie Beauty Luxie Rose Gold Medium Angled Shading Eye Brush 207 ($12)
By the time I decide to end my Ipsy subscription I may have close to a full set of Luxie brushes, which I am more than okay with.
tarte deluxe lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara
I loved this sample so much so that I bought two full sized mascaras after I ran out of the sample. This is my favorite mascara to date. I honestly probably would’ve never tried it if it weren’t for Ipsy too.
SKINFOOD Egg White Perfect Pore Cleansing Foam
I keep this face wash in my travel bag. It lathers up great and makes my face feel so clean after using it. I love taking it on the go.

OCTOBER

MARC ANTHONY Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter Oil Treatment
I love the way this hair oil smells. It adds great shine and softness to my hair when I use it. I looked into buying more of this oil but it seems Marc Anthony has been redoing some of their product and I couldn’t find this exact one.

NOVEMBER

ORIBE HAIR CARE Gold Lust Dry Shampoo
I always heard great things about this dry shampoo so I was so excited to try it. Everyone who raves about this is right. It has a great smell and works great to give second day hair a new start.
SLMISSGLAM B36 Tapered Highlight Brush ($20)
I love makeup brushes.
TARTE Deluxe Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Quirky ($21)
I love this blush. It is the perfect color and it wears great.

DECEMBER

DIRTY LITTLE SECRET COSMETICS Eyeshadow Crayon in Fetch ($14)
This is one of my favorite eyeshadow colors. It is the perfect shade for a natural look but also stays great. It also doubles as an eyeshadow base for me. I’ve never been one to use eyeshadow crayons but I loved this one.
SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Lip Polish in Orange + Cream ($18)
My lips are no longer dry! I love the smell of this lip polish. When I use it I just want to sniff it for hours. It works so well to buff off dead skin from lips. I pretty much use this every week.

JANUARY

CIATÉ LONDON Fierce Flicks Liquid Eyeliner ($19)
I love a good liquid eyeliner so I was happy to try a new one out. At first I wasn’t sold on this one as it transferred some but I found that was because I was rubbing my eyes too much. When you don’t rub your eyes this eyeliner will stay in place… lesson learned.
SO SUSAN Liquid Matte in Pumpkin ($14)
This long wearing, great smelling and beautiful lippie is one I like to have with me one days I know I can’t be reapplying my lipstick. It will stay all day so I love that.

There’s the recap of the products I have especially loved in my Ipsy bags. Of course, there are some products that I got and used maybe once or twice that now sit at the bottom of my sample bag but for the most part I loved my year of Ipsy.

I spent $110 on my first year of Ipsy. These full sized favorites equate to $199.99. My year’s worth is even more than that considering I don’t have prices of the sample products!

So the verdict is, if you’re on the fence of signing up for Ipsy, I say go for it. I have loved getting new makeup products every month. As you can tell, I’ve found a lot of favorites that I probably wouldn’t know of if it weren’t for Ipsy. I have signed up for another year of bags and couldn’t be more excited.

If you want to sign up, here’s a link you can use. I don’t get commission from this link but I do get points added to my account for referring friends. If you sign up, let me know. I’d love to share even more things I love about Ipsy.

I had fun blogging about my year of Ipsy bags and I hope you enjoyed reading them.

  1. I love this! I have boxy charm right now, and I like to take a look at what I know I’m using versus spending in order to keep the box, but I’ve never looked at it over an entire year. I’ll have to start analyzing my box subscriptions this way!

  2. I just ended my subscription in February and changed over to boxy charm. It’s more money for the subscription, but I’ve been in love with everything so far. Plus every item is full sized, not samples and you get more points then with Ipsy. I think Ipsy is good for a person who is just starting out and wanting to try out products that may be unheard of and it is at a great subscription price.

  3. This was such a great post!! Thank you so much for sharing, I love how you broke the bags down into months!!
